AION 2 Rift Glossary: Clocks, Portals & Events

“Opening,” “entry window” and “activity duration” refer to different moments. Use the activity name and clock type together to avoid following the wrong timer.

TermQuestion it answers
OpeningWhen is a start expected?
Entry windowCan a new player still enter?
Activity durationHow long does participation last?
ResetWhen does a limit or period refresh?
Respawn intervalWhen might a boss return after a kill?

Portal opening versus entry window

Opening is when a portal becomes available. The entry window is the period during which it accepts participants. Players who are already inside may remain in an activity after new entry closes. A next-start countdown covers the opening only.

Spacetime Rift versus Rift Contest

An ordinary Spacetime Rift is a crossing into enemy territory. The Taiwan guide’s Rift Contest is a separate scheduled battle with attacking and defending teams. “Rift” alone can refer to either in casual discussion, so ask which panel or activity the speaker means.

Server time versus local time

Server time is the clock reference used for the activity. Local time is the equivalent date and hour shown on your device. UTC offset expresses the difference from UTC; it is not necessarily the same as a geographical region with seasonal clock rules.

Fixed schedule versus respawn interval

A fixed schedule has clock-based starts. A kill-based respawn interval starts from a recorded death time. A useful respawn estimate needs the boss, server, channel and a trustworthy observation. A reset deadline instead describes when a system’s limits or progress refresh.
